The Eyes of the Lord

For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. I Peter 3:12 KJV

The marvelous position of a righteous man is in the eyes of the Lord. Our heavenly Father takes special care to watch over the affairs of our lives. Those who have the imputed righteousness of Christ through the blood of His cross have this blessed promise. There are many dangers on the road to Zion. It thrills my soul to know that my heavenly Father has His eyes over all my ways. He looks ahead and guides me through all the troubles of my journey by His sovereign hand. The text also tells us that His ears are open to our prayers. While on this road we will find ourselves in many different times and seasons of our life. There will be good and happy days and we will need the open ear of God to pray a prayer of praise. There will be dark and sad days when the ear will be needed for a prayer of sorrow and a plea for help. I thank my eternal Father for the open invitation to come before the throne of grace. My soul has found sweet relief and fled the evil one through prayer. Lastly the face of God is against the wicked. The lost man has not this special care from the Father. There is a common grace to all sinners, but not a special watching over their ways. God hears not the prayer of the wicked until He first hears a prayer of repentance from the heart. God’s face is against the wicked. Oh what a terrible state to be in. Come to the Savior. He patiently waits to save by His power divine! Amen.
